Teaching Period 2: Report + Support Data

Introduction

  • This data was obtained from reports submitted to Aston's Report + Support (R+S) platform 1st January 2024 - 30th April 2024.
  • Students, staff, and visitors can submit reports to the R+S platform Report + Support - Aston University, which are then triaged and responded to by an allocated responding staff member.
  • R+S is one method concerns about bullying, harassment, sexual violence, sexual assault, hate crime, discrimination, assault, and other issues of concern are identified.
  • Alternate methods include, but are not limited to, informing Campus Safety, reporting to Unite staff, reporting to the ARC at the SU, reporting to a member of staff, staff emailing the Students of Concern group, staff submitting a Safeguarding Referral, reporting externally (to the police, for example). Concerns that are received from any of these methods are not currently captured by the R+S data.

Action plan

As Gold Members with Culture Shift, we have initiated development of the R+S platform. Over the next few months, we will introduce a new feature which will enable the management of safeguarding referrals. R+S will thus serve as the primary source of data for concerning incidents, responses coordination, progress tracking, and outcome measurement.

The development of the R+S safeguarding feature is taking place in tandem with the reformulation of the Students of Concern Group, which consists of safeguarding leads for the Colleges and support services throughout the university. Group members will be undertaking safeguarding training and induction to the R+S reporting platform.

For the 2024/25 academic year, safeguarding data will be contained within R+S.
