We are proud that Aston University became a White Ribbon Accredited University in April 2024.
This accreditation symbolises our commitment to ending violence against women, both within the University and in the wider community. Over the next three years, in line with our Action Plan, we will focus on identifying and challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours that contribute to gender-based violence. Transforming these attitudes and behaviours is essential to making Aston University a safe and equitable environment for all.
What is White Ribbon?
White Ribbon is the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls. Their preventative work tackles the root causes of such violence by addressing harmful attitudes and behaviours linked to rigid gender norms and harmful notions of masculinity.
White Ribbon at Aston University
As a White Ribbon-accredited organisation, Aston University is committed to helping end violence against women by promoting a culture of respect and equality among our staff and wider communities. By sharing White Ribbon’s message, we can influence attitudes and behaviours, helping to prevent violence against women and girls before it starts.
White Ribbon Steering Group
We currently have 13 members on our White Ribbon Steering Group, comprising five Ambassadors and eight Champions, from across the University. We are actively working to improve representation of men and individuals from minoritised ethnic backgrounds within the group. If this applies to you and you are interested in becoming a White Ribbon Ambassador, please contact Claire Richards at c.l.richards@aston.ac.uk.
